About Randy

Commissioner Maluchnik is an avid champion of local government with a tireless effort towards reducing unfunded mandates through local control and flexibility with our State and Federal government partners. The government closest to the people serves the people best is his motto. Randy served as the Military and Veterans Liaison for Congressman David Minge, and as a Veterans Service Representative with the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Commissioner Maluchnik is dedicated to providing the best federal, state, and county services possible for our members of the Armed Services, ourĀ veterans, and the families that make their service to our country possible.

Commissioner Maluchnik represents the Third District on the Carver County Board being elected to the Carver County Board in 2006, and reelected in 2010, 2012 and unopposed for reelection in 2016. Randy serves as County Board Liaison to a number of committees including the Carver County Community Development Authority, Minnehaha Creek Watershed District, Secretary of the Metropolitan Inter- County Association, Member of the Metropolitan Council’s Transportation Advisory Board and its Executive Committee, Past President of the Minnesota Transportation Alliance, and President of the Southwest Corridor Transportation Coalition, President of the Minneapolis Area Agency on Aging. Commissioner Maluchnik is a Past President of the Association of Minnesota Counties and participates at the national level with the National Association of County Officials (NACo) serving as Chairman of the Transportation Steering Committee. Commissioner Maluchnik is a graduate of the County Leadership Institute and the Minnesota Extension Leadership Program and received the 2017 Public Leadership in the Arts Award for County Arts Leadership.

Commissioner Maluchnik holds a Masters Degree in Marketing Vocational Education from the University of North Dakota and is proud to be a military retiree of the United States Armed Forces.
